Davey's Locker Whale Watching & Sport-fishing Tours

Davey’s Locker and its affiliated companies Newport Landing and Newport Coastal Adventure combine to form the largest whale watching operation in the world. We see hundreds of whale sightings every year off the coast of Newport Beach. Common sightings include Blue Whales, Gray Whales, Finback Whales, Humpback Whales and occasionally Killer Whales (Orcas). Almost every day we also see a variety of Dolphin species. We offer three basic types of whale watching trips: Signature (standard) whale watching on larger, walkable boats. We also offer luxury whale watching (less-crowded boat) and ultimate whale watching featuring high speed rigid-inflatable boats that move at a much higher speed.  We average 20 trips per day nearly every day of the year.

Davey’s Locker is also known for its exciting sportfishing trips ranging from half-day to full-day and overnight trips. Catch is seasonal and can range from sea bass, rockfish, whitefish, sculpin, barracuda, bonito, and halibut to larger big game pelagic species such as California Yellowtail, Bluefin Tuna, Yellowfin Tun and Mahi Mahi (Dorado). We provide tackle for purchase and easy-to-use rods and reels for rent all at affordable prices. It’s not uncommon for beginning anglers on a summer trip and land a 30-lb class bluefin tuna on a rented rod. 

All of our vessels have USCG-licensed captains and crew and many of our whale trips provide on-board naturalists for enhanced education opportunities.
