Find the Perfect Place

The first thing to do is to take a walk around your house and scout out the best spot for your new outdoor shower. The easiest way to set up the plumbing is to have the shower attached to the side of your home. You will then have easy access to both hot and cold water from the pipes inside the house. A drain will also have to be installed and you’ll want to make sure to connect this to either a sewage line or a drain that flows to your lawn. If it’s not possible to install your shower to the side of your house, there are other options such as a solar tank that uses the sun to heat the water.

Shower Size

When it comes to figuring out the size and shape of your shower, you’ll want to map out how much room you want your shower to be. A simple outdoor standing shower is about 4 feet x 4 feet, but if you have dreamed of a large oasis you can use bigger dimensions so you can fit all of the amenities. You might want to consider installing shelves to keep all of your shower products, a bench to sit on, and much more. One important tip is to have a separate area with hooks to keep your towels far enough away from the shower so that they don't get wet.

Shower Design

Designing your outdoor shower can be a serious endeavor, but our Balboa Realty experts are here to help you. Because the shower is located outdoors it will automatically have a more rustic vibe. The goal is to try and blend your interior design aesthetic with the outdoors. You might consider using more natural looking materials and colors and if this is your beach house you could incorporate a cool coastal feel. When choosing the materials, keep in mind it’s important that they are all specifically made for outdoor use so they can withstand the harsher outdoor elements.

Privacy Please

When you have your outdoor shower all ready the last thing you’ll want to feel is worried about your privacy. If you live closely to your neighbors you’ll most likely want to shower with clothes on or you can create your own barrier. Plant tall trees on the sides of your property or build a wooden structure around the shower area to keep your privacy from your neighbors. You won’t even know that your neighbor are there!
