Swimming
Swimming is fun and relaxing, but knowing the Pacific Ocean and the California coast is important! Newport Beach has strong rip currents and sand bars, making swimming dangerous if you're not prepared. Ocean safety is extremely important. Newport Beach lifeguards are on duty from 10:00 am- 6:00 pm, so swimming is generally limited to those hours.
Surfing

Fire Rings
Fire rings are located in Newport Beach, and two types can be used. Green fire rings are used for cooking only. Charcoal can be purchased for these rings nearby at several locations. Unpainted fire rings are designed to burn wood. These rings are typically used for warmth during cooler nights on the beach.
